Vera Canelia [Berry] Collins
Funeral Services for Vera Canelia Collins, 83, of Chickasha, were held Monday, January 22, 2007 at 2:00 pm in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Ken Davenport officiating and Bob Craddock assisting.
Vera Canelia Collins was born January 16, 1924 in Agwam, Oklahoma the daughter of Will S. Berry and Rosie Lee Tindel. She died Friday, January 19, 2007, in Oklahoma City.
Cotton grew up in the Agwam area graduating from Ninnekah High School in 1942; she then married Lowell E. Collins September 1, 1943 in Chickasha. They made there home in the Ninnekah area where she worked various jobs. She was employed for Tinker Field in the Civil Service Department retiring after twelve and half years due to her health.
Cotton enjoyed cooking, ceramics, sewing, picnics, and caring for her grandchildren. Later in life she also enjoyed playing games at the Sterling House and trips to Braums.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ninnekah.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lowell E. Collins, both parents, sisters: Dorothy Lamprecht, Faye Robbins, and Josephine Britton; Brothers: Jack Berry, Vernon Berry and Cecil Berry.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law: Paula Jean and Greg Cook of Marlow; Grandsons and daughter-in-laws, Christopher and Dana Cook of Hollis; and Nathan and Becky Cook of Kansas City, Mo.; sister Margaret Jervis of Moore; brother, Harvey and Betty Berry, of Ninnekah; and great-granddaughter Jaycee Cook of Hollis.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be sent to the Oklahoma Heart Hospital 4050 W. Memorial Road Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73134.
Interment was in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
