Etta Waniece Brown

Etta Waniece Brown, 83, of Chickasha died Wednesday, November 22, 2000 in Chickasha.

Graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 25 at Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home of Chickasha.

Mrs Brown was born September 4, 1917 in Mena AR, the daughter of Jesses James and Hazel [Leeper] Golden.

She and Bill Brown were married in the little Rush Community in Grady County in 1935. He preceded her in death in 1951.

Mrs Brown came to Oklahoma as a child and had lived in Rush Springs most of her life.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Peggy Jo Brown in February, 1941; and one grandson, Richard Lynn Brown on June 15, 1982.

Survivors include 3 daughter, June Stringfellow of Rush Springs, Arva Guffee of Verden, and Petty Ann Ratliff of Ninnekah; two sons, Bobby Brown of Shidler and Jerry Brown of Rush Springs; one brother, Joe Golden of Casa Grande AZ; 21 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren

Donald L. Brown

1927 ~ 1941

Don Brown, 14 year old Webster Junior High School student, was accidentally shot and killed Friday at Rush Springs while preparing to go hunting with a friend, Billy Moore, 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Moore, of Rush Springs.

The youth, the son of Mrs. Robert H. Walker, 127 Northwest Eighteenth Street, was struck in the stomach by a charge from a .410 gauge shotgun and died en route to as Marlow hospital.

"The boys were near the Moore home when the shot was fired," Robert H. Walker, the victim's steep father, said at Rush Springs. "Don was walking behind Billy, who was carrying the shotgun on his shoulder. Don was carrying a .22 caliber rifle."

"Dom called to Billy, who was wearing a Boy Scout uniform. When Billy turned around, the trigger of the gun caught on an ornament and the gun was discharged. It was entirely an accident."

Don was spending the holidays with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Henderson, at Rush Springs.

Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Rush Springs Baptist Church and burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery.

Monty Steven Brown

Lindsay: Monty Steven Brown, 58, Lindsay, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, June 1, 2009 in Lindsay.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at the Glory Bound Church, with Rev. David Woods officiating.

Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow, Oklahoma.

Monty was born Wednesday, January 3, 1951 in Monmoth, Illinois, to Mark Brown, Sr. and Louise Willman Brown.

Monty grew up in Rush Springs and graduated from Rush Springs High School in 1969. He had lived in the Lindsay area for the last six years.

Monty served six years in the Oklahoma National Guard.

Monty married Sherri Dawn Howell on July 16, 1990 in Purcell, OK.

He was a retired welder and worked for Super Flow Testers for several years.

Monty was a member of the Elks Lodge in Lindsay.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially hunting mushrooms. He had a green thumb and loved his garden. Monty was a real nature lover. He was a true people person, who found a friend in everyone he met.

Monty had accepted the Lord as his personal Savior.

Survivors include, Wife, Sherri Brown of the home, 3 sons, Steven Brown of Marlow, OK, Kevin Brown of Marlow, OK and Holden Brown of Lindsay, OK, Daughter, Sissel Brown of Lindsey, OK, 6 Grandchildren, 2 brothers, Mark Brown Jr and wife Sharron of Rush Springs, OK and Mike Brown and wife Nelda of Rush Springs, OK, 4 sisters, Marilyn Blades and husband Lynn of McLoud, OK, Sallie Stewart and husband Bobby of Rush Springs, OK, Margie Williams and husband Ron of Urbanna, VA, Melady Gorham and husband Carl of Theodore, A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one niece, Misty Stewart

Jamie Denice Brown

Rush Springs: Jamie Denice Brown, 38, Rush Springs, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2009 in Oklahoma City.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 pm, Monday, December 7, 2009, at the Rush Springs Cemetery, with Ed Grooms officiating under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs.

Jamie was born Tuesday, August 24, 1971 in Marlow, to Donnie Brown and Regina [Fletcher] Brown.

Jamie lived in Rush Springs all her life and graduated from Rush Springs High School in 1990.

Jamie was a homemaker and loved cooking and sewing. She enjoyed helping people, taking care of her kids, parents and dogs. She also enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, camping, fishing and going to rodeos. Jamie loved watching Ben perform in the Rush Springs Band and watch Michael participate in rodeos. She like to read and take pictures as well.

Survivors include, 2 Sons, Benjamin Scott Brown of the home, Michael James Brown of the home, Parents, Donnie and Regina Brown of Rush Springs, Brother, Shon Lee Fletcher and wife Laura of McAlester, Sister, Regina Rayshel Brown and husband Billy Carl of Enid, Grandparents, Bill and Wanda Fletcher of Norman, Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her Grandparents and Great grandparents, James William and Velma Ester Brown and Helen Davis.

Desire Nicole [Galer] Brown

Desiree Nicole Brown, 30. passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 in Rush Springs.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, April 13, at 1 p.m. at the Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs with the Rev. Paul Phipps officiating.

Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Desiree was bom Thursday. January 29.1987 in Oklahoma City to William C. Galer and Tammy Galer.

Her special interests were reading and listening to music especially by Shinedown.

She is preceded in death by aunts, Grace Ami James and Rose Bailey.
