George Washington Beard
Rites For G. W. Beard Held Here Friday p.m.
Funeral service for George W. Beard, 71, who died last Thursday in his home four miles northeast of Rush Springs, was held Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock in the Missionary Baptist church here.
Rev. H.P. Haley, Baptist minister of Chickasha, conducted the service, assisted by Rev. Alex B. Roberts, pastor of the Elm Flat Baptist church and Rev. H.E. Waggoner, pastor of the Cox City Baptist church.
Interment was made in the Rush Springs cemetery, with Callaway and Mullican in charge.
Mr. Beard was born November 16, 1863, at Oxford Mississippi. For the past 31 years he had made a home in Oklahoma.
He became a member of the Baptist church 50 years ago, and lived a christian life until his death.
He was a patient sufferer during many of the last months of his life.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. J.I. Sherwood of Rush Springs and Mrs. Velma Dyer of Big Spring, Texas; two sons, Ernest of Rush Springs and S.A. Beard of Lubbock, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Hill of Eldorado and Mrs. Eva Evans of Burges, Mississippi; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as a host of friends.
