Tuesday, August 12, 2014 Viola Ruth [Roberts] Abshire Viola Ruth Abshire, 83, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2014 in Pampa, Texas. Viola was born Friday, August 29, 1930 in Erick, OK to Edgar and Beatrice Velvie [Goings] Roberts. She spent her early life in Oklahoma and the last eighteen years in Pampa Texas. She Married Clyde Abshire on October 27, 1947 in Bonham Texas. She was a member of the Carpenter Church, where she spent time canning with other members of the congregation, and enjoyed working with children and her grandchildren. Viola loved to spend time with her family. In her spare time she liked to go shopping and go out to eat especially breakfast. Survivors include, son, Wilbur Ray Abshire and wife Mamie of Gilmer, TX daughter, Darlene Fay Vickery of Pampa, TX ten grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild brother, David Wayne Hughes and wife Lilimae of Greenwood, AR brother, Jimmy Don Hughes of Greenwood, AR sister, Wanda Kerry and husband Ray of Wilmer, TX sister, Bessie Oxford of Enid several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Bobby Abshire,Carl Wayne Hughes, and Oscar Hughes. Sisters, Juanita Beard, and Betty Fletcher. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 15, 2014 at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel, with Ellen Abshire officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery |
