© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Monday, 28 December 2009 Sam M. Smoot Williams Funeral Services for Sam M. Williams, 95, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2009 in the Chapel of the Sevier Funeral Home. Sam M. Williams was born May 1, 1914 in Laverne, Oklahoma to Andy L. and Byrde [Smoot] Williams and died Thursday, December 24, 2009 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Sam Williams graduated from the Norman High School and then graduated from the O.U. Law School in 1938. Sam served during WW II in the U.S. Army in the Jag Corp, and later retiring from the Army Reserves as Major in 1974. On Feburary 2, 1946 he married Lois Alene Knight in Washington, D.C. and she precedes him in death on September 23, 2003. He lived in Oklahoma City until moving to Chickasha in 1950, where he practiced Law with the Allen and Williams Law Firm until being appointed State District Judge for Grady and Caddo Counties in 1964 where he served until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association for over 50 years. He is preceded in death by both parents, his wife and 2 brothers. Surviving family include: Three Sons: Richard Williams and wife, Charlette of Anadarko, Oklahoma, John Williams of Chickasha, David Williams and wife, Laura of Spring, Texas; Six Grandchildren: Julie Pedraza of Austin, Texas, Meredith Williams of Dallas, Texas, Chandra Franks of Ennis, Texas, Ty Williams of Ennis, Texas, Andrew Williams of Spring, Texas, Ellie Williams of Spring, Texas; Three Great-Grandchildren; Nieces, Nephews and other Relatives. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the Direction of the Sevier Funeral Home, Chickasha, Oklahoma.
