Claude H. Whitener
The funeral rites for Claude H. Whitener were held Wednesday, March 20, 2002, in Cordell at the First Baptist Church.
Mr. Whitener had been a resident of Cordell since 1964.
He died on Monday, 18 March 2002 in the Cordell Memorial Hospital.
He was the son of Albert and Carrie [Whittle] Whitner and was born in Ninnekah on 10 October 1909.
Claude had lived in Chickasha before moving to Cordell and was a salesman, operating Cordell Parts for years, used cars, real estate and garage sales.
He was a member of the Cordell Masonic Lodge No. 127, the Heartland Shriners and the First Baptist Church.
Claude was first married to Thelma E. Whitener. When Thelma died in 1992, Claude then married Ruby Maynard on 12 August 1994.
Left to mourn his loss are his wife, Ruby, two sons, Wayne and Jim Whitener, two stepdaughters, Judy Butterworth and Linda Parker, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.
Claude was preceded in death by his first parents, first wife, two brothers, Clarence and Bertie, and one sister, Gladys.
The funeral was conducted by Rev. R. B. Mathis and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Chickasha, Oklahoma under direction of McClure Funeral Home of Cordell.
