Philip K. West
Funeral services for Philip West of Chickasha will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at Epworth United Methodist Church. Philip West passed away June 23, 2007 at Integris Hospital at the age of 47.
He was born May 9, 1960, in Ft. Worth, Texas, the son of Ted and Jean [Miser] West.
He came to Chickasha at age 11, and attended Chickasha Schools, later graduating from Amber-Pocasset High School in 1978. At that time he continued a career of farming and ranching along with many other endeavors.
He married Mandi [Shatwell] West on May 4, 2006, and lovingly brought her and her son Gavin and Garrett into his life. Philip now had his family and devoted himself to them.
They only had a brief time together, but every minute they had was special and they enjoyed being together.
Philip was known and loved throughout Grady county and beyond. Anyone who came to know him knew his gentle nature. Philip made friends easily and he held these friendships close to his heart.
He could make anyone laugh through his quick wit or his relentless pranks.
Because of his compassion and empathy, much of his time was spent as a constant facilitator and peacemaker, continually bringing happiness to those around him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mandi West and stepsons Gavin 10 and Garrett 7, of the home; parents Jean and Ted West, of Chickasha; one sister, Alice Roberts; special niece, Rachel 5, of Edmond; sister-in-law, Marci Shackelford, of Tuttle; three brothers-in-law: Mark, Michael, and Mace Shatwell, all of Tuttle; and countless other family and friends.
Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
