© Chickasha Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Friday, February 17, 1922 March 17, 1851 ~February 9, 1922 Pioneer Citizen of Chickasha Dies in Texas; Remains Brought Here for Burial Amidst a profusion of flowerds the funeral services of Dr R. P. Tye were held Sunday afternoom at2:30 o'clock in the First Methodist church here. Rev A. B. L. Hunkakillar of Adair officiated at the service. Dr Tye, a pioneer Chickasha Citizen, and owner of the Tye building at Fourth street and Chickasha avenue, passed away Thursday night at 8:45 o'clock at his hom,e in Burleson, Texas. He was one of the first doctors to settle in Chickasha, giving his time and efforts to the limited populatio of this place and prospering as the town expanded and grew in population. Shortly after location here Dr Tye built his home at the corner of Fifth street and Colorado avenue and here he resided until his return to Burleson, Texas, a few years ago. Soon after coning to Chickasha Dr Tye was appointed Rock Island physician and for many years he continued in this capacity. During the years that he was the official surgeon of the shopmen D Tye mde numerous friends and was held in high esteem by every man he came in cibtact with. Dr Ty was affiliated with the Elks lodge and Knights of Pythias lodge, and was a very active and important member in each. Surviving the deceased are his wife and three daughters; Mrs Bert Algire, Mrs Garland Brown, and Mrs Henry Price, all of Texas. The pallbearers were: w. T. Cloud, W. W. Clark, Dr T. H. Williams, Oscare Claycomb, J. S. Garner, and M.Courtney. Interment occured Monday morning at 11 o'clock |
