Cecil was born on May 25, 1916. He died on April 21, 2005. © The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma April 25, 2005 May 25, 1916 ~ April 21, 2005 Funeral service for Cecil C. Thomas, age 88 of Chickasha, were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 25, 2005, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Cecil C. Thomas was born the son of Cornelius P. Thomas and Katie Nightengale Thomas on May 25, 1916, at their home southwest of Verden, Oklahoma. He died on April 21, 2005, in Chickasha. Cecil lived in the Chickasha area all of his life. He graduated from Fairview High School south of Chickasha. Cecil entered the Army Air Corp during World War II and served in the South Pacific as an engineer. After the war, he returned to Chickasha. Cecil worked for Grady County as a road grader for 38 years retiring in 1982. He attended the First Baptist Church and was a member of the Americal Legion Post 54 in Chickasha. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and five sisters. Survivors include his nephew and wife, Jack & Bette Thomas of Cement; niece and husband, Wanda & Harold Spencer of Altus; niece, Betty Jo Bryant of Broken Arrow; niece and husband, Nancy & Vaughn Shamberg of Grove; nephew and wife, Tom & Carol Westfall of Hutchison, Kansas; nephew, Rob Westfall of Dallas, Texas; great nephew and wife, Bill & Judi Thomas of Chickasha; great nephew, Bobby Thomas of Chickasha; and many other family.
