James Marion "Jim" Saylors
Funeral services for James Marion "Jim" Saylors, 81, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, December. 14, 2009,, at the Epworth United Methodist Church in Chickasha. Jim was born Mar 25, 1928, in Cement, Oklahoma to James and Leah Saylors, He died Wednesday . December 9, in Oklahoma City. He attended Anadarko schools and graduated with the class of 1946.
He attended University of Oklahoma where he enjoyed playing in the Pride of Oklahoma Band.
He married the love and joy of his life, Janelle Henderson on Dec. 15, 1976.
He was an avid golfer and loved OU sports.
He was an exceptional musician. He played the bugle, piano, trombone and was a master bagpiper.
He was a member and director of the Barbershoppers and the founder and director of the Chickasha Chapter of the Sweet Adeline's Barbershop Chorus.
He spent his last years traveling Oklahoma and North Texas playing music that he dearly loved.
He is survived by his wife, Janell, of the home; two sons, James Saylors and David Saylors, both of Oklahoma City, and two daughters and their husbands, Gina and Carl Taylor of Anadarko and Jana and Kelly McGill of Sherman, Texas; ten grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and an honorary grandson, Noah Green.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Saylors, and his mother, Leah Jansen, and his brother, Brunell Saylors.
Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Chickasha under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
