Funeral service for Verma Virginia Hewitt Ratliff, 97, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 27, 2005 at the Michigan Avenue Baptist Church.

Verma Virginia Hewitt Ratliff was born January 23, 1908 near Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma following statehood. She died October 21, 2005 in Chickasha.

Verma was one of five children born to Thomas and Maggie Hewitt; Hazel, Lewis, Pearl, Helen and Verma. All siblings are deceased.

She married Homer Ratliff, and he preceded her in death.

Verma and her husband operated Ratliff Grocery at 9th & Frisco from 1933 - 1976.

She was a member of the Michigan Avenue Baptist Church.

She was also preceded in death by: 1 son: Ronny Dean Ratliff.

Survivors include: 1 daughter: Ima Jean Crane of Traverse City, Michigan; 1 son: Elmer Lee Ratliff of Fairhope, Alabama; 9 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren scattered from Madrid, Spain to San Francisco to Vermont to Florida.

Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
