SERVICES FOR POWELL TODAY Rock Island Engineer Laid to Rest Here; Friends From Home Town Act as Pall Bearers; Masons Have Charge.
Funeral services for A. G. Powell, aged 47, were held at the Anderson and Jordan Funeral Home this afternoon. Rev. J. R. Abernathy officiating, followed by Masonic services at the Rose Hill Cemetery, where interment will occur.
A group of friends and former associates from Manley, Iowa, F. E. Fehman, J. W. Harper, J. A. Duncan, S. O. Brown, T. A. Jacobson and W. P. Morrow, acted as pall bearers from Mr. Powell's former home.
Mr. Powell was formerly mayor of Iver Grove, Minn., a suburb of St. Paul, moving from that place to Chickasha in December. He has been an engineer on the Rock Island for a number of years. Since moving to Chickasha in the latter part of 1924, Mr. Powell and his family have been making their home with Mr. Powell's mother, Mrs. L. V. Powell.
He is survived by his wife and daughter, Pauline, mother, three brothers, Algie and Bodie of this city and Charles of Esterville, Ia; and three sisters, Mrs. J. R. Cason and Mrs. B. L. Edwards of this city and Mrs. J. G. White of Los Angeles. Mr and Mrs. J. R. McCue of St. Paul, the latter the sister of the deceased's wife, are here for the services.
