Katie McCanless
LOCAL PIONEER WOMAN IS DEAD Mrs. Katie McCanless, 88, wife of J. W. McCanless, died at 7:30 pm Sunday at her home, 320 Pennsylvania, after an illness of four weeks. She had been in failing health for the past two years.
Funeral services are to be conducted at 3:30 pm Tuesday in the chapel of the Chickasha Funeral Home.
Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
Born Feb. 19, 1856, at Franklin, Ky., Mrs. McCanless had been a resident of Chickasha for the past 35 years, and formerly lived at Dallas, Texas.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Surviving relatives include the husband; two daughters, Mrs. Mazie McCooley, Seligman, Ariz., and Mrs. Winnie Allen, Los Angeles, Calif.; one son, R. F. Shackleford, Chino, Calif.; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Minnie Gardner, Crescent, Ok.; Mrs. Myrtle Parker, San Antonio, Texas, and Mrs. Agnes Schiller, Los Angeles, Calif.; three stepsons, Ernie McCanless, Dallas; Jim McCanless, Amber, and Bill McCanless, Chickasha, and one brother, Gene Lewis, Franklin, Ky.
