John W. McCanless
~~~~~ McCANLESS RITES SET MONDAY
John W. McCanless, 102, of 1010 South Second, died at 1 pm Friday. Rev. R----- S------ will officiate at services Monday at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home.
Mr. McCanless was born May 26, 1857.
He spent his early childhood in Gnats Grove, Tenn., on four acres of land that was given to his brother for his participation in the Mexican War. He worked there several years before entering Oklahoma Territory.
He is the father of four living children; one son, James, north of Chickasha; and three daughters; Mrs. Minnie Gardner, Crescent; Mrs. Jack Parker of San Antonio and Mrs. Agnes Schiller of Camdenton, Mo.
Mrs. Louise Owens of Chickasha is one of 13 grandchildren. There are 23 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great grandchildren.
Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
