Oklahoma City, Oklahoma June 1975 September 10, 1900 ~ June 16, 1975 Funeral services for Mrs. Jed [Beatrice Luginbyhl] Johnson were held at 10:30 am, Friday , June 21 in the First Baptist Church at Chickasha with Rev. I.D. Johnson, chaplain at Furman University, officiating. Burial followed in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Chickasha. Mrs. Johnson was born September 10,1900 in Sanger, Texas and died Monday, June 16, in a Washington, D.C. hospital. She was teaching at Anadarko junior high school in 1925 when she was married to the late Jed Johnson Sr, who died in 1963. She had taught school in Chickasha and moved to Washington D.C. from Chickasha two years ago to live with her son, Jed Jr, a Washington attorney. Jed Sr. was a congressman from 1927 to 1947 and then served as a U.S. Custom Court judge from 1948 until his death. Jed Jr. served as a sixth district congressman from 1965 to 1967, both serving in this district. In addition to her son, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Joann Stauffer of Tulsa and Mrs. Jean Fisk and Mrs. Janell White of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Mrs. Fay Snell of Oklahoma City, and eight grandchildren. |
