Harry Harvey Hill Jr
December 22, 1922 ~ May 9, 2020

Harry H. Hill Jr. was born at Verden, OK December 22, 1922 to Thora and Harry H. Hill, Sr. He graduated from Chickasha highschool in 1940 and attended OU until 1942 when he enlisted in the Navy. He was an aircraft engine specialist with postings in Chicago, Norman and San Diego. He married Lydia Herron while stationed at North Island, San Diego. After his discharge he returned to OU to earn a Bachelors and Master in Mechanical Engineering.

He taught in the civil engineering department at OU from 1955 to 1958 before moving to private industry with Hudgins, Thompson and Ball Engineering where he specialized in design and construction of commerical projects. Everyone who travels south on I-35 between the Arbuckle Mountains and Ardmore passes under the bridges with the V shaped truss which was unique for the time. He was quite proud of his role in the project which received several awards. He ultimately finished his career working on some of the more notable projects in Dallas. He loved OU football and was proud to hold season tickets for over 50 years until his loss of vision kept him from the games.

He and Lydia had three children Linda Campbell [John], Karen Dickman [Jerry], and Harry Harvey Hill III [Connie].

He later married Bobbie in 1967. They had 41 years together before her death.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, and is survived by his children, his step-daughter Kathy Simons [Roger], 6 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

A private family graveside service will be held in Chickasha at the family plot.
