Robert W. Hayes

Funeral service for Robert W. Hayes, age 76, of Chickasha will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2008, at the First Christian Church. Rev. Michael Oberlender will officiate.

Mr. Hayes was born the son of Garold Hayes and Gertrude French Hayes on June 7, 1932, in Wilmore, Kansas. He died on August 31, 2008, in Chickasha. Mr. Hayes graduated from high school in Hutchinson, Kansas in 1950, then attended Hutchinson Junior College.

He married Norma Cook in 1954. While in Kansas, he was an insurance salesman and sold construction equipment for Caterpillar. He then started his own construction company, called Hay-Mac Construction, with his father, three brothers, and his brother-in-law.

In 1962, he moved to Oklahoma and eventually settled in Chickasha in 1965, continuing his construction business. In addition, he was also a rancher in the Chickasha area. While in Kansas and Oklahoma, he was a member of the Naval Reserve.

In 1993, he married Billie Marie DeKinder of Chickasha. Mr. Hayes attended the First Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and three sisters.

He is survived by: Wife: Billie Marie of the home, Son: Robb Hayes and wife, Donna, of Newcastle, Son: Todd Hayes of Chickasha, Daughter: Cassandra Hayes-Townsend of Oklahoma City, Step-Daughter: Jeannie M. Smith of Chickasha, Brother: Russell Hayes and wife, Mary, of Ardmore, Grandchildren: Angela Hayes, John Dylan Hayes, Jayleen Fowler, Alyvia Hayes, Cathleen Townsend, and Kenton Smith, Mother-in-law: Bernetta DeKinder of Chickasha, Sister-in-law: Jo Ann DeKinder of Chickasha, Many Nieces and Nephews.

Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
