Rev. Larry E. Hatfield
June 1, 1944 ~ December 17, 2017


Rev. Larry E. Hatfield passed away at his home in Chickasha, OK on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the age of 73. He was born June 1, 1944 in Marlow, Oklahoma to W.C. and Mary Alice [Davis] Hatfield.

He graduated from Marlow High School in 1962 and married Helen Crow on March 27, 1963 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma. He preached his first sermon at the age of 13. He accepted the pastorate of his first church, Crossroads Assembly of God, Sallisaw, Oklahoma, in 1964. He then spent several years preaching revivals across the state of Oklahoma.

He returned to pastoring, beginning at Wainwright Assembly of God in Wainwright, OK, followed by Grand Avenue Assembly of God Church in Chickasha, First Assembly of God in Tahlequah, OK, First Assembly of God in Checotah, OK and Faith Assembly of God in Ada, OK. In 1991 he came back to Grand Assembly of God and served as pastor until retiring in 2010.

Throughout his active ministry years, Larry had a radio ministry, “Coffee with Hatfield,” which continued into his retirement years. He was also an unofficial chaplain for Grady Memorial Hospital where he visited almost daily. He blessed many with his musical talent, and his writing was often featured in the Chickasha Express Star and The Pentecostal Evangel. He served others as “The Piano Man,” a skilled piano technician.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers: Lloyd, Jimmy and Bill Hatfield; and a sister, Mildred Dorman.

Larry is survived by his wife, Helen Hatfield of Chickasha, OK; Daughter, Glenna Reid and her husband, Mark, of Bartlesville, OK; Son, Lonnie Hatfield, of Bartlesville, OK; Grandchildren: Hartley and Jacob Larson of Hayfield, MN; Nathan and Sara Hatfield of Yukon, OK; Christina Hatfield of Chickasha, OK; Ainsley Reid of Bartlesville, OK; Alonna Hatfield of Moore, OK;Great Grandson, Lathan Hatfield of Yukon, OK; Sister, Mary Helen Long and her husband, Van, of Coalgate, OK; Mother-in-law, Laverne Crow; Brother-in-law, Ken and Becky Crow; Sister-in-law, Jane Hatfield.
