© Ferguson Funeral Home Chickasha, Oklahoma Sunday, September 11, 2011 Cole Tyler Hammons Funeral services will be held for Cole Tyler Hammons, 22, of Chickasha at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2011, in the First Baptist Church, Chickasha, with Kim Hayes officiating and Michael Butler assisting. Cole Tyler Hammons was born on July 21, 1989, in Chickasha, the son of Grant Hammons and Deanna Elrod Hammons. He died on Sunday, September 11, 2011, at home in Chickasha. Cole grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha High School in 2008. While in high school, he was very active in the Future Farmers of America or FFA. He took great pride in his skills with animal husbandry and showmanship, showing shorthorn heifers and steers, and placed in the top five in the nation with his shorthorn heifers. Cole also showed registered Appaloosa Horses and placed in the top ten in the world. He participated in other interests as well, including speech, photographic art, and salesmanship. He was very talented and won many awards in every area in which he participated. After graduation, he became a volunteer fireman with the Friend Volunteer Fire Department. He was certified in many areas of firefighting and was most recently enrolled at Redlands Community College pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice. His favorite achievement was becoming CLEET certified with his drug detection dog, Kilo. He did an internship with the Grady County Sheriff's Department and Amber Police Department. Cole was a member of College Heights Baptist Church. Cole was a loving son and grandson, a caring friend, and a giving person. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by: his maternal grandfather, Ab Elrod; and paternal grandparents, J. Roy and Betty Hammons. Survivors include: mother, Deanna Hammons of Chickasha; father, Grant Hammons of Oklahoma City; one sister, Payton Hammons of the home; maternal grandmother, Eva Elrod of Chickasha; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |
