© The Chickasha Daily Express 9 & 10 March 2009 Don Dunn Funeral service for Don Dunn, 79, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Chickasha. DON DUNN was born January 1, 1930 in Monroe,Oklahoma the son of Marion and Ottie Dunn. He died March 7, 2009 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Don graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City in 1948. He and Jimmie Jenson were married January 5, 1952 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Don and Jimmie celebrated their 57th Anniversary January 5, 2009. Don served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953-1954. In November of 1964, he bought his first grocery store, Dunn's Red Bud, in Chickasha. He and his family moved to Chickasha in 1965. Don eventually had four Dunn's Grocery Stores. He retired about 71/2 years ago. Don was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served as an active Deacon. He also served as Sunday School Director in the Young Married Class, was a Sunday School Teacher, Church Trustee, and served on the Pulpit and Search Committee. He served on the Oklahoma Baptist Foundation Board, the Salvation Army Board and Grady County Health Board. Don was past president of the Chamber of Commerce, the Kiwanis Club and Rotary Club. He was one the founding members of the Chickasha Bank, served as Chairman of the Board and was currently serving as Vice Chairman of the Board. He was also a member of the Oklahoma and National Grocery Association. Don was preceded in death by: Parents: Marion and Ottie Dunn; 3 brothers: Cecil Dunn, Charlie Dunn and Lee Dunn; and 1 sister: Ruth Hicks,Survivors include: Wife: Jimmie Dunn; 2 daughters and sons-in-law: Kathy and Jerry Mottinger; Nancy and Bobby Ryans; Grandchildren: Erik Mottinger and wife, Michelle; Kyle Mottinger; Adrienne Wenzel and husband, Justin; Amy Ryans and 2 great grandchildren: Malorie Mottinger and Addison Wenzel; 1 sister: Mary Martin; and 1 brother: Duke Dunn. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. |
