Ben Clement DeKinder

Funeral for Ben Clement DeKinder, 29, will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday December 10, 1990 in the First Presbyterian Church of Chickasha. Charles Roberts will officiate and be assisted by Rev Gary Pratt of the First Assembly of God Church, Chickasha.

Mr. DeKinder was born Sept. 29, 1961, the son of Ben Elmer and Jo Ann [Clement] DeKinder. He died Wed. Dec. 5, 1990 at Taft CA following a construction accident. Benny was reared in Chckasha and attended Chickasha Public Schools. He graduated from Amber-Pocasset High School. In 1982 he moved to Cyril and had worked in the oil industry for several years. For the past two years, Mr. DeKinder worked for Tower Tech Inc of Chickasha for whom he was working in California.

Mr. DeKinder was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and attended The First Assembly of God Church in Chickasha where he was active in several church activities.

His grandfather, Joe Clement, preceded him in death. Survivors include a son and a daughter, Timothy Joseph DeKinder and Keri Anne DeKinder both of Verden; his parents Ben and Jo Ann DeKinder of Chickasha; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Poyner and Jo Lynn and Paul Heath, all of Chickasha; his paternal grandparents Bill and Bernetta DeKinder of Chickasha; and his maternal grandmother, Evelyn Clement of Chickasha.

Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Binyon Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church building fund.

Special seating will be provided by Tower Tech employees, Department of Human Services employees, and singles of First Assembly of God Church.

Ben Elmer DeKinder

Memorial service for Ben Elmer DeKinder, age 69, of Chickasha Oklahoma, was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 28, 2005, in the First Presbyterian Church in Chickasha, Rev. Barbara Hunt, pastor of the church, officiated.

Ben Elmar Dekinder was born the son of William Edward DeKinder and Bernetta Bernice Petree DeKinder on December 8, 1935, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. He died on February 24, 2005, in Chickasha of liver cancer.

He married JoAnn Clement on April 13, 1960, in Chickasha. Ben was a lifetime resident of Chickasha. He joined the United States Naval Reserve in 1954, and retired after thirty years and nine months as a Master Chief Radioman.

In 1966, Ben established a FM radio station, KNDR. Seven years later he sold the radio station and began working for Combined Area Telephone Directory in Oklahoma City. After several years, the business folded and Ben went back to college to obtain his degree. In the Spring of 1991, he earned a Bachelor of Science and Business Administration from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.

During this time, he delivered the Daily Oklahoman newspaper seven mornings a week, continuing until June of 2002. After graduation he went to work at the University of Science and Arts in payroll and accounts receivable. He retired last year after thirteen years.

Ben was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church. He was very involved in the community serving a two year term on the Chickasha City Council, volunteer for Chickasha Auxiliary Police, member of the Chickasha Optimist Club and past Civil Defense Director.

He was preceded in death by his father, and one son, Ben Clement Dekinder. Survivors include wife, JoAnn DeKinder of Chickasha, daughter Mary Hampton of Chickasha, daughter and son-in-law, JoLyn and Rex Clifton of Chickasha, mother, Burnetta DeKinder of Chickasha, sister and brother-in-law, Billie Marie and Bob Hayes of Chickasha, grandaughter Keri Anne of Chickasha, grandson and wife, Tim and Amanda DeKinder of Chickasha, grandaughter, Erica Ann Heath of Chickasha, grandaughter, Sarah Poyner of Chickasha, and many loving family members.

Service was under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made the First Presbyterian Church.
