© Chickasha Daily Express Chickasha, Oklahoma Friday, 10 November 1989 Leroy "Pete" Bowen Funeral service for Leroy "Pete" Bowen, 74, of Alex, Oklahoma, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, November 10, 1989, in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. Leroy "Pete" Bowen was born October 3, 1915, in Ninnekah, Oklahoma, and died Tuesday, November 7, 1989, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Mr. Bowen was raised in and around Grady County in the Cofelt area. He and Liberty Tigner were married August 8, 1938, in Alex, Oklahoma. He worked in the oilfield as a sizemograph driller in many parts of the country. Mr. Bowen returned to the Alex area in 1970. He worked for Pet, Inc., retiring in 1981. Mr. Bowen was preceded in death by 3 sons: Gerald Wayne Bowen in 1944, Johnny Lee Bowen and Gary Don Bowen in 1949, his father John Bowen and one brother, H. L. Bowen. Survivors include his wife; Liberty Bowen of the home in Alex; one son and his wife, Larry Steve and Linda Ann Bowen of DeRitter, Lousiana; one grandson, Larry Lee Bowen, and two granddaughters, LaWuita Bowen and Lyndena Bowen also of DeRitter, Lousiana; his mother, Susie Bowen of Longview, Texas; six brothers, Virgil Bowen of Merced, CA, Billy Bowen of Alex, OK, Johnnie Bowen of Chickasha, OK, Andy Bowen of Chickasha, OK, Berlin Bowen of Norman, OK, and Jimmie Bowen of Alex, OK; two sister, Anna Lee King of Longview, TX and Tommie Jo Hurley of Ninnekah, OK; and many nieces and nephews. Rev. Bobby Ayres, pastor of First Baptist Church of Alex, officiated. Organist was Mrs. Imogene Rice. Soloist was Thomas Ayres. Pallbearers were Tommy Pearcy, Dan Parish, Kenneth Bush, Gail lee, Kenneth Nickell, Roy Coursey and James Werthen. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. |
