Gerald H. Badgett

Services for Gerald H. Badgett will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at Epworth Methodist Church. The Rev. Kim Hayes will be officiating. Viewing will be Wednesday night and Thursday at Ferguson Funeral Home.

Gerald was born Oct. 23, 1925 to Fred L. and Billie B. Hurt Badgett in Agawam, suburb of Ninnekah, OK. He lived in the Chickasha area 80 years.

Gerald aka Dad, Gerry, Uncle Gerry and Badge, lettered in tennis and football while attending CHS, graduating in May 1943. He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII. He then attended the University of Oklahoma earning an engineering degree and lettering in tennis.

After the death of his brother Fred, he returned to Chickasha to help his mother run Badgett Steam Lubricator, later being named President.

He married Alice May Van Vaulkenburg April 15, 1950 in Chickasha and had four children. Alice died July 15, 1980.

Upon Gerald's "so-called" retirement he continued to spend a great deal of time at Badgett's (learning to use the internet) and with his friends and family golfing, playing tennis, cruising, and gambling.

He was a member of the Chickasha Golf and Country Club and a Charter member of Chickasha Elks Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Dale and Fred, sister Leona Gill, infant son Andrew, wife Alice, Golden Retriever Josh, cat Sam, and several good friends.

He is survived by the people of Chickasha, his family and hundreds of friends. Survivors include his son Gerry, Jr. and companion Chuck Barth of Ninnekah, daughter Gail and husband Richard Ulrich of Wichita Falls, TX, daughter Susan and canine friends of Ninnekah, loving friend and companion Liz Craig, also of Ninnekah, and Yellow Lab Belle. Other survivors include his nephews Gary Badgett and wife Charlotte, Richard, Fred, and John Gill, and niece Catherine Braisted; Great nieces and nephews, Julie Badgett Sinn and husband Tim, Sean, Dale, Meghan, and Kery Braisted, Griffin and Caitlin Milligan, Emily, Evan, and Ellie Gill; and great great nephews Andrew Badgett Sinn and Luke Badgett Sinn.

Gerald loved his family, friends, animals, traveling and "playing." Luckily, he was one who was able to live life to the end. He never just existed. He played all the way through.

Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
