© The Chickasha Express~Star Chickasha, Oklahoma August 11, 2005 Robert Ernest Alexander Grady County Boy Killed in Action Alex, Okla, Oct. 10 ~ Special Robert E. Alexander of this place has been killed on the French front, according to word received from the war department by his father W. V. Alexander His death occurred September 13 ~ the day which the Americans started their independent offensive at St. Michiel ~ the message said. Alexander was a graduate of the law school of the University of Oklahoma. Two years ago he was a candidates for the democratic nomination for county attorney of Grady county but was defeated by J. H. Venable in a close race. Robert Ernest Alexander Birth: Nov. 15, 1891, Oklahoma, USA Death: Sep. 13, 1918, France Robert was the youngest son of Martha E [Davis] and William Vinson Alexander. A native Oklahoman, he was killed in action during the Battle of Saint-Mihiel, France in World War I during September of 1918. He is buried near his parents in Rose Hill Cemetery, Chickasha, Oklahoma. |
