She died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, in Chickasha. © The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Thursday, March 17, 2005 April 26, 1917 ~ March 16, 2005 Funeral services for Geneva C. Tryon, 87, of Chickasha will be held Saturday, March 19, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Elmer Whitehead officiating. Geneva C. Tryon was born April 27, 1927, in Stratford, Oklahoma, the daughter of James L. Hutchins and Cora Abney Hutchins. She went ot meet her Lord on Wednesday, March 16, 2005, in Chickasha. She attended Chickasha High School. After graduation, she attended college at OCW, and graduated from Okmulgee Tech, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She worked as the kitchen manager and cook at Okmulgee Tech until her retirement in 1985. After her retirement, she returned to Chickasha. Geneva was an Ordained Minister. She liked to say she became a "Fanatical Christian" in 1948, when she began going to the Church Of God, located on 8th and Oklahoma, in Chickasha. She enjoyed writing weekly religious articles for the Chickasha Express-Star, until her health started failing her. She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband, Fred Tryon, one son, Joey Tryon, two brothers, eight sisters, and one great granddaughter. Geneva is survived by her children, Jim and his wife Keiko Manning, of San Jose, Californa, and George and his wife Patricia Manning, of Ninnekah, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Interment will be in the Pocasset Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |
