Springdale, Arkansas June 2017 May 17, 1945 ~ June 3, 2017 Harold Leon Sullivan, 72 year old resident of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, died June 3, 2017 in Springdale, Arkansas. Born May 17, 1945 in Pocasset, Oklahoma. He was the son of Clarance Sullivan and Hetti Kinsey Sullivan. Harold married Janice Laughrey on January 10, 1969 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Harold retired from Allen Canning Company as the Vice President of their IT department. He was a Life Member of VFW Post 1674, a very loyal and dedicated asset to the Post. Harold held several positions with the post such as: Levi Douthit VFW Post 1674 Quartermaster; VFW Post 1674 Trustee from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Arkansas; District 1 Trustee for three years; and District 1 Judge Advocate. His heart was focused on serving “veterans in need.” As an active member of American Legion Siloam Post 29, Harold was elected and served two terms as Post Executive Committeeman. He was a member of the Post Honor and Color Guards. He also served on and contributed to numerous committees. He could always put a positive spin on any item of discussion. His contributions to the Saturday morning "Coffee with the Commander" gatherings will be sorely missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and five sisters. He is survived by his wife, Janice of the home; one daughter, Janeen Blanton and husband Brian of Columbia, South Carolina; and two grandchildren, Caleb Blanton and Jordan Blanton. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, with Pastor Steve Curtis officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Wasson Funeral Home. Burial will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Pocasset Cemetery, Pocasset, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VFW Post 1674, P.O. Box 6847, Siloam Springs, AR 72761. |
