Benjamin Milford Reed
1892 ~ 1966


Private Ben Reed Was Missing In Action


Private Benjamin Milford Reed 36th Division, CO L 142nd Infantry, A. E. F.

This is the first son Mrs Jane Reed gave to Uncle Sam.

He left his home May 27, 1918 for Camp Bowie, Texas and one month later sailed for France where he was given further military training. He has been missing in action since October 9th the War Department announced November 17th.

Ben was one of our fine farmer boys living north of Pocasset, he has two brothers in service and one with his widowed mother at home.

Let us hope that the missing will be found.

November 15, 1896 ~ April 5, 1980


Three Reed Boys Fought For the U. S. A.


Private Charles F. Reed of CO M, 80th Infantry, Camp Logan, Texas, is the youngest son of Mrs Jane Reed, a widoq living near Pocasset.

Charles joined Uncle Sam’s service September 6th, 1918 and was one of our good farmer boys of Grady County.

He has two brothers over seas.

Private Dave Reed Saw Service Overseas


Private Dave C. Reed, CO D 136 Infantry, Camp Dix, New Jersey is one of our kahki boys who left for Camp Dix June 25th, 1918.

He is now doing service in France having landed there in September.

He has one brother with his widowed mother in Pocasset and two in the army, one overseas and one in U. S.

Maggie Mae [Skinner] Reed
November 4, 1902 ~ June 16, 1994


Funeral service for Maggie Mae Reed, 91, of Chickasha, Oklahoma was held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 1994 at the Calvary Baptist Church.

Maggie Mae Reed was born November, 4, 1902 in Comanche, Texas, the daughter of K. E. and Amanda Jane [Lewis] Skinner and died Thursday, June 16, 1994 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

She and Dave Reed were married in Norman, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death in 1959.

Mrs. Reed played the piano for local nursing homes and special functions. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist church and was a former member of the Rebecca Lodge. Mrs. Reed was a Practical Nurse.

She was preceded in death by her parents, K. E. and Amanda Skinner; one daughter, Betty Jane Davis; one grandson, Johnny Carpenter.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Alma Reed of Oklahoma City; four daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma and Bill Trompler of Colorado; Melba and Norman Hellman of Chickasha, Oklahoma; Barbara and C. P. Conaway of Crockett, Texas; Marilyn and Jim Wilson of Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Two sisters, Eddie Cook of Chickasha, Oklahoma and Lela Exum of Littlefield, Texas. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Interment was held in Pocasset Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
