Velmer Orville "Bud" Kessler
May 9, 1940 ~ anuary 14, 2005


Funeral service for Velmer Orville "Bud" Kessler, age 64, of Amber, Oklahoma, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 17, 2005, at the First Missionary Baptist Church, of Pocasset.

Velmer Orville "Bud" Kessler was born May 9, 1940, in Hinton, Oklahoma.

He was the son of Orville Albert Kessler and Viola Florene [Millspaugh] Kessler, He died Friday, January 14, 2005, at his home in Amber.

He married Leona Beth Wisdom June 11, 1959, in Chickasha.

He worked as an auto mechanic at various dealerships in Chickasha until he went to work at the Chickasha Fire Department in 1971.

He worked there until he started his own business in 1975. He owned and operated Bud's Auto Service from 1976 until he retired in 2001. He then devoted his time to his family and his hobby of woodworking.

Bud was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church for 27 years, Pocasset Lions Club, Pocasset Volunteer Fire Department and a board member of RWD No. 1.

Bud is now at home with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Steven Lynn Kessler, three sisters, Faye Lockhart, Thelma Ruyle and Zeldine Kessler.

Survivors include: his wife, Leona Beth Kessler, of the home in Amber; two sons and their wives; Ronnie and Denise Kessler, of Amber, Oklahoma, Bruce and Liz Kessler, of Bensheim, Germany; one daughter and her husband, Rhonda and Kyle McComas, of Amber, Oklahoma; one granddaughter, Kelli McComas; three grandsons: Gus McComas, Jack McComas and Shane Kessler, all of Amber, Oklahoma; one brother, Glen Kessler and wife, Linda, of McAlester; three sisters: Paulette Taylor, of Harrah, Oklahoma, Delois Hayes of Chickasha, Helen Andrews, of Chickasha; many nieces, nephews and cousins, and a host of friends.

Interment will be in the Pocasset Cemetery, Pocassett, Oklahoma, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Children's Home in Oklahoma City, or the First Missionary Baptist Church of Pocasset.
