© El Reno Tribune El Reno, Oklahoma Sunday, May 5, 2019 April 1, 1848 ~ July 13, 1910 According to the 1850 US Census, Stephen lived in Neuse [north side], Wayne County, North Carolina, with his parents. Stephen and his brother Jacob inherited land from their father James Daniel, who died in 1853. The land adjoined land owned by William Whitsitt, who their mother Piercy Perkins married in 1859. In 1860, Stephen was living in Stony Creek, Wayne County, North Carolina with his mother, step-father, full brother Jacob, and Whitsitt step-siblings. Sometime between 1860 and 1868, the family moved to Ray County, Missouri. Stephen married his step-sister Sarah Jane "Sallie" Whitsitt on September 20, 1868 in Ray County, Missouri. His brother Jacob married another step-sister Jarusha Whitsitt in 1871. In 1870, Stephen and Sallie lived in Walnut, Butler County, Kansas, farming with his brother Jacob. In 1880, they farmed in Polk, Ray County, Missouri. In 1900, they owned a home and were farming in Weaubleau, Hickory County, Missouri. In 1910, Stephen was a widower, living in Amber, Grady County, Oklahoma with his daughter Cordia and her family. Stephen's headstone shows that he died on July 13, but the Daniel family Bible shows he died July 28, 1910. |

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Amber or Oklahoma Boys Ranch Town-Edmond. www.obhc.org/about/campuses/brt/ Voncille Odom Daniel of Pocasset, OK passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at her home in Pocasset at the age of 91. She was born on September 8, 1929 in Amber, OK to Bee Roscoe and Maggie Loretta [Maloney] Odom. Voncille graduated High school from Amber in 1947. She married Ralph Daniel on February 26, 1949 at the First Baptist Church in Amber. She was a devoted wife to Ralph for 68 years. They worked together on the farm and raised their four kids. She began work as a telephone operator in 1948. Her love of gardening was used to bless many people at their table. Voncille and Ralph always had an open door and were willing to help anyone who came through it. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Amber. She taught, sang in the choir, worked with the GA's, and served in many other ways in the church. Sharing and showing the love of Christ to anyone and everyone in her life was one of the most important things to her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bee and Maggie Odom; husband Ralph L. Daniel; two brothers and 5 sisters, sister-in-law Wanda Davidson, and son-in-law Keith McCool. Voncille is survived by a brother James Odom and wife Lauana of Amber, OK; and sister Rose Lee of Elk City, OK; Children: James Daniel and wife Stephanie of Tyler, TX; Gary Daniel and wife Frankie of Pocasset, OK; Cherris Curtis and husband Tom of El Reno, OK, and DaVeda McCool of Pocasset, OK;Voncille lived a full and blessed life filled with the love of 11 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandsons. |
