© The Chickasha Express-Star Chichasha, Oklahoma Wednesday, 23 November 2005 Marguerite "Marge" [Odom] Carter October 13, 1926 ~ November 23, 2005 Graveside services for Marguerite Carter, 79, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 26, 2005, in the Pocasset Cemetery with Reverend Bob Gordon officiating. Marge was born October 13, 1926, the daughter of B. R. Odom and Maggie LaReta "Reat" [Maloney] Odom, in Amber, Oklahoma. She died Wednesday, November 23, 2005, at the Alterra Sterling House Assisted Living in Chickasha. She married Alfred G. "Jerry" Carter on May 22, 1945, in Amber, Oklahoma. Marge was a secretary for Sooner State Associates Insurance Company in Tulsa for 22 years, retiring and moving to Pocasset in 1986. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Amber. She moved to the Sterling House in December of 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry on August 31, 2000; father, B. R. Odom, in 1973; mother, Maggie LaReta Odom, in 1956; two brothers: Kenneth and J. C. Odom; and two sisters: Katherine Neighbors and Geraldine Wilson. Marge is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Mike Carpenter, of Chickasha; grandchildren: John and Allison Garrett, of Texas, Julie and Bryce Beaty of Pocasset, Tiffany Garrett of Chickasha, T. J. Garrett of Chickasha, T. J. Garrett, of Pocasset; great grandchildren: Levi Garrett and Hunter Garrett, both of Chickasha, Piper and Blade Beaty, of Pocasset; brother and sister-in-law: James and Lauana Odom, of Amber; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Voncille and Ralph Daniel, of Pocasset, Joy and Don Yell, of Artesia, California, Rose and Howard Lee, of Elk City: sister-in-law, Dorothy and Walt Kearney, of LaHabra, California; many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |
