Adam Koehn

Brother Adam Koehn was born in Russian Poland, March 7th, 1838 and departed from this life October 8, 1922 at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 1 day.

In 1865 he was joined in marriage with Elizabeth Koehn. To this union were born five children: four sons and one daughter. The four sons died in infancy; about 10 years after being married his wife also passed to the great beyond.

In 1874 he and many others emigrated to America, and about two years later he was again joined in marriage to Eva Nightingale. To this union were born nine children, four sons and five daughters of which two have also preceded him in death while in infancy, and on July 3, 1920, his wife also passed away.

He is survived by three sons, five daughters, 28 grand-children, 8 great grandchildren, one brother.

Those that he left to mourn his departure mourn not as those who have no hope.

Six grandchildren and six great grandchildren have preceded the brother to the great beyond.

The brother had to endure very much suffering during the last 20 years of his life, being unable to lie down to sleep owing to the severe headaches; however, during the last two months of his life the severe headaches ceased and he was able to lie down. Death being due to old age.

The funeral was conducted by brothers B.P. Becker and S. A. Nichols, from Text II Cor. 5: 1-10.

The remains were laid to rest in the Plainview Cemetery, near Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Simon H. Koehn

Simon H. Koehn was born to Henry C. and Carrie Jantz Koehn on July 19, 1900, at Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. The Lord called him home on December 5, 1995, reaching the age of ninety-five years.

At the age of four he came with his parents to Chickasha, Oklahoma.

At the age of twenty he responded to the Savior's call to repentance. Upon true repentance and confession of faith, he was baptized on February 25, 1921, by Min. Tobias A. Unruh, becoming a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite.

On April 11, 1926, he was united in marriage to me, Carrie Unruh Jantz, sharing life's joys and sorrows for nearly seventy years.

Dad was engaged in farming in this community until 1963. At that time we moved to town. Doing yard work became his occupation, working hard to provide for his family. In this he continued as long as health permitted. Due to failing health he entered a local nursing home in December of 1986. Here he was cared for until his passing.

We have precious memories of him routinely reading his Bible in the morning before entering into the day's work schedule. He endeavored in a quiet way to fill that place the Lord had for him in His kingdom. He embraced the faith to the end. He recently expressed a desire to go to heaven. We believe he is now at rest.

He is survived by his wife, Carrie; two daughters: Dorothy and husband Virgil Koehn; and Velma Jantz, both of Chickasha, Oklahoma; one sister, Mrs. Ben S. Koehn, Moundridge, Kansas; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, and two sisters. Funeral services were held on December 8, 1995, at the Plainview Mennonite Church, Chickasha, Oklahoma, with Ministers Glen Nightingale and John Nightingale officiating.

Burial was in the adjoining church cemetery.
