© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Friday, January 2, 1948 James P. Thornton Thornton Rites In Ninnekah Mrs. Henry Minnett received word today that her uncle, Jim P. Thornton, 80, died Thursday at him home in Brownwood, Texas. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at the Baptist church in Ninnekah with Rev. Walter Roysden, pastor, officiating. Mr. Thornton formerly lived in Chickasha and fed cattle when the feeding pens were located here. He later moved to Texas where he was in the cattle business. Survivors include his wife, Mary; two sisters, Mrs. Ben Collins of Ninnekah and Mrs. Jim Spradlin of Oilton, and one brother, John Thornton, of Nicholsville, Ky. © The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Sunday, January 4, 1948 James P. Thornton J. L. Thornton Services Held Funeral services for J. L. Thornton were conducted at 3:30 Saturday afternoon in the Ninnekah Baptist Church by Rev. Walter Roysden. Interment was in Ninnekah Cemetery under direction of Brown Funeral Home. A quartet, composed of Mrs. Raymond Whitmer, Mrs. E. J. Valentine, Jodie Johnson and Bob Roysden, accompanied by Mrs. E. K. Miller, sang, "Does Jesus Care", "Farther Along" and "The Unclouded Day". Pallbearers were J. F. Bird, R. N. Anderson, H. O. Proctor, F. L. Lea, W. M. Walker and F. M. Cabler. |
