Jesse Franklin Hayes
Graveside services for Jesse F. Hayes, 78, of Chickasha will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2009, in the Ninnekah Cemetery. Jesse Hayes was born September 24, 1931, in Garvin County, near Maysville, Oklahoma, the son of Toy Hayes and Alice Robbins Hayes. He died Friday November 21, 2009, in Oklahoma City.
Jess moved from the Maysville area at age seven, to the Feucway, Oklahoma area and at age twelve moved with his family to Woodlake, California.
He joined the Navy Seabees in 1950 and was honorably discharged in 1954, after serving in Korea. While he was in the Seabees he was a builder of all kinds of structures whether wood, metal or concrete.
Jess married Maxine Shaw on June 19, 1953, in Woodlake, California.
They brought their family to the Ninnekah area in 1970, later moving to Chickasha, where he was employed as a welder from during the 1970's and had been employed with Brown-Binyon Funeral Home during the eighties and the ninety's as their maintenance and repair man. He retired in 1998.
He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, where he attended regularly and enjoyed all his church family and all their activities. Jess also loved fishing and hunting and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by both parents, one brother and six sisters.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law; Brenda and Michael Rodgers, Jenny and Micheal Phillips, all of Chickasha; three grandchildren and their spouses, Melanie and Jerry Tillman, Jennifer and Kenny Tolman and Rachelle Phillips; three great-grandchildren, Tracker Tillman, Jessleah Tolman and Bailey Tolman.
There will be no public viewing.
Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
