Crossing Crash Kills Ninnekah Mother and Son
Four Others from Same Family Hurt as Auto Is HitTwo persons were killed and four others were critically injured whan an automobile carrying the Frank (should be Henry) Cofer family of eight persons was struck a half mile south of Ninnekah about 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon by a Rock Island motor coach.
Mrs. Cofer, 36, and son, Wayne, 14, died from injuries received in the accident. The boy was killed instantly and Mrs. Cofer died about 8 pm at a local hospital.
Other of the family who were taken to local hospitals included Mr. Cofer, 41, owner and driver of the automobile, who is suffering from a broken collar bone and severe shock; Tom, 5, severe skull fracture; Earl, 9, scalp wound and severe cuts and bruises, and Shirley, 2, compound fracture of the right leg and bruises.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon in the school auditorium at Ninnekah by Rev. L. D. Parton for the three crash victims of the Cofer family.
Surviving members include: four sons, John Henry Cofer, stationed in Normandy, Rueben Cofer, somewhere in the South Pacific, Tom Cofer and Earl Cofer of the home ; 2 daughters, Mary Katherine Cofer and Shirley Cofer of the home.
