June 25, 1941 Susan Margaret [Johnson] Sherwood Susan Margaret Johnson was born in 1865 Polk County, MO. to James J Johnson, b. VA, and Margaret Jane Perryman, b. TN. She is one of 8 daughters, and 4 brothers. About 1867 the family moved from Polk Co., MO to Grayson Co., Texas. Around 1882, she married Thomas Jefferson Sherwood, b. AL, and settled in Indian Territory, Oklahoma [Choctaw Nation], where they farmed the land. They had 3 daughters and 3 sons. She and her youngest son, Audie Sherwood, moved to Oklahoma City, OK around 1928. Between 1935 and 1940, Susan and her son moved once more to California. Susan M. Sherwood died in Montebello, Ca. on June 25, 1941. A Memorial service was held at "The Little Church of Sacred Memories in Los Angeles, Ca. Her son, Audie sent her remains to Alex,OK to be interned next to her husband, Tho J. Sherwood and her oldest son, Tho M. Sherwood; also her son, Ludie L Sherwood. There is no marker at this time. |
