© Chickasha Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Friday, 16 March 1917 1873 ~ March 6, 1917 The Angel of Death again visited our neighborhood to sadden our hearts by taking Thomas E. James from our midst. Thomas E. James Was born in Kentucky in 1873. He came to Oklahoma about 20 years ago and settled near Ardmore. He had only been here a few months. He died March 6, 1917, aged 44 years. Funeral Services were held at the Naples cemetery by Rev Harmon of Ireton. The only relatives at the funeral were his wife and two children and two of his brothers-in-law. He leaves a wife and two children to mourn their loss. His family were in needy circumstances. Frank Porter circulated a subscription to raise money to defray burial expenses and for the benefit of the family. The people of Mt Olive and Naples showed their sympathy by their works and the amount received was nearly seventy dollars. [$1,718.14 in 2024] |
