Susan Matilda Francis [Nix] Berry
November 17, 1846 ~ March 9, 1918


Susan Matilda Francis Nix, born November 17, 1846 to Reuben Christian Nix and Emerillas Williams of Hot Spring County, Ark.

She married James Marion Berry, oldest son of Joseph and Hollon Berry of Hot Spring County,Ark. The marriage recorded 3rd October 1865 in Hot Spring, Co.

Francis died while on a trip from Lamar County, TX to visit her daughter Sarah Sally [Berry] and husband Edgar Berry of Naples area.

She died 9th March 1919 in Sally's home and was buried in the Naples Cemetery. No stone was erected.

Francis was the mother of 9 children: Jasper Allen Berry, Martha Minnie Berry Gibson, William Daniel Berry, Marion Lon Berry, Frank L. Berry, Sarah Ellen Ledonia [Sally] Berry, Lillie Maud Berry Wright, Laura Bell Thompson, and John Gordon Berry.

Her husband James Marion Berry was born January 30, 1838 in Alabama, and died September 22, 1904 in Checota, Lamar Co., Texas.
