Beulah E. [Copeland] Harmon
Funeral for Beulah C. Harmon, 88, Star Route, Alex, will be at 10:30 am Friday, May 17, 1985, in the chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. Mrs. Harmon died Tuesday, May 14, 1985, in her home. She was born March 14, 1897, in Orine, Indian Territory, which is near Marietta. She was one of 10 children born to J. F. (Ferd) and Rhoda (Hackler) Copeland.
The Copeland family moved to a farm in 1904, one half mile north of the Ireton School site. In 1908 they moved to the present Copeland farm one mile east of the Ireton School site.
On March 9, 1919, she married David M. Harmon in Anadarko. They established their home in the Oak Ridge School district. She taught a combined total of 39 years in the Ireton, Oak Ridge, Dare, Oak Hurst and Dibble Schools.
She retired in 1962 and was a graduate of Oklahoma College for Women (now USAO).
Mrs. Harmon's granddaughter, Novis Green, moved to Oklahoma from Tuscon, Ariz., three years ago so that Mrs. Harmon could continue to live on the farm.
Her husband, David M. Harmon, preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 1971.
Survivors include one son, David M. Harmon, Jr., of Lawton; one daughter, Imogene Sunshine, of San Jose, Calif.; two brothers, Melville Copeland of Oklahoma City, and Paul Copeland of Pauls Valley; two sisters, Stella Johnson of Norman, and Clara Harrell of Visalia, Calif.; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Interment will be in Ireton Cemetery.
