© Chickasha Daily Express Chickasha, Oklahoma Monday, March 12, 1928, pg 1, col 1 1857 ~ March 12, 1928 PAT TOLAN DEAD RESULT OF "FLU" Attack Starting Week Ago Proves Fatal for Furniture Dealer and Pioneer Chickasha Citizen; Funeral Wednesday. Following an attack of Influenza, Pat Tolan, aged 70, local furniture dealer and a pioneer Chickasha citizen, died in a local hospital this morning at 5 o'clock. Funeral services will be conducted from the Holy Name Catholic Church Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock and burial will occur in the Holy Name Cemetery here. Mr. Tolan was born in the parish of Inver in the county Donegal, Ireland, coming to the United States when a young man. He moved to Chickasha over 30 years ago from Hennessey and had been engaged in the furniture business on Kansas Avenue with a brother, Hugh Tolan, who died last year. Mr. Tolan was removed to a local hospital a week ago after his condition became serious and death occurred this morning. He is survived by two sisters, Miss Beedie Tolan of this city and Mrs. Annie Walsh of Philadelphia, Pa., and two brothers, George of Glasgow, Scotland and Owen of the old home in Ireland. Mrs. Walsh is enroute here from Philadelphia to attend the service here Wednesday morning. |
© Chickasha Express~Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Tuesday, September 27, 1927, pg 1, col 8 1866 ~ September 26, 1927 TOLAN FUNERAL TO BE HELD CATHOLIC CHURCH TOMORROW Funeral services for Hugh Tolan, aged 60 who died here Sunday night will be held at the Holy Name Catholic church Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock, Father Frank VanWees officiating. Interment will occur in the Holy Name Cemetery. Mr. Tolan who had been connected with his brother Pat Tolan in the Tolan Brothers furniture store here for a number of years, was found dead Monday morning in his room at 1128 Michigan avenue. He was a native of Ireland and came to the United States about 35 years ago. He had been a resident of Chickasha about 15 years. He is survived by his brother and a sister, Beedie Tolan of this city, a sister living in Philadelphia and a brother in Glasgow, Scotland and another brother living in Ireland. |

© Chickasha Daily Express Chickasha, Oklahoma January 15, 1941, pg 2, col 6 Bridget "Beedie" Tolan 1879 ~ January 9, 1941 MISS TOLAN RITES TODAY Requiem mass for Miss Beedie Tolan was 9 o'clock this morning at the Holy Name Catholic Church with Father A. Pierets in charge. Interment was in Holy Name Cemetery. Rosary was Tuesday night at the home 1128 Michigan Avenue. Miss Tolan died about 11 o'clock Thursday night at her home. She had been a resident of Chickasha since 1907. Miss Toland was born in Ireland. A sister, Mrs. Anna Walsh and a niece, Mrs. Julia Walsh O'Neill of Philadelphia were here for the service. Another niece, Miss Anna Walsh, of Philadelphia, was unable to attend. Miss Toland also is survived by a brother, Owen Toland living in Ireland. The Altar Society of the Holy Name Church attended the mass in a body.center |
