© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Thursday, March 22, 2007 March 3, 1927 ~ March 20, 2007 Graveside services for Bruce A. Goss, 80, of Chickasha will be held at 10:30 a.m., March 23, 2007, in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Bruce A. Goss of Chickasha, died on March 20, 2007. He was born on March 3, 1927 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma and had just celebrated his 80th birthday at a party with his family. Everyone who knew Bruce will remember him for the things about which he was so passionate. He exhibited an enthusiastic love for his country, the Oklahoma State Cowboys, education, and golf. He demonstrated his love for his country when at the age of 16 he exaggerated his age in order to enlist in the Navy to serve as a Radio Operator in World War II. He would later re-enlist in the Navy to serve in the Vietnam War. After returning home from his first tour in the Navy, Bruce graduated from Bartlesville High School in 1947 and went on to earn a degree from Oklahoma State University in 1954. He spent the next 27 years teaching math and history at the junior high level, which requires a special measure of patience and professionalism. Although Bruce retired from teaching, he never quit teaching those around him. We will all miss the impromptu lessons he would give us on so many subjects. Bruce enjoyed coaching and playing golf. One of his proudest achievements was having coached the CHS golf team that won the 1972 state championship. Bruce played golf as often as possible and enjoyed competing in 2 National Senior Olympics golf tournaments. Bruce is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patricia; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Scott Holswade, and their children, Erica and Mark; son and daughter-in-law, Gavan and Kathy Goss, and their children, Joe, Kristen, and Wesley; and a large extended family. His beloved mother, Letha Goss, preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Chickasha Mobile Meals at 412 Field Crest; Chickasha , Oklahoma 73018. Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |
