© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Wednesday, 21 March 2007 © The Tuttle Times Tuttle, Oklahoma Thursday, 29 March 2007 Grace [Starkey] Rowe Services for Grace [Starkey] Rowe, 88, of Pocasset will be held on Friday, March 23, 2007, 2pm at the Southern Oaks Church of Christ at 3320 S. 16th Street, Chickasha. Jim Sheerer and Jim Ross will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Friendship Cemetery SW Minco, under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home of Minco. Grace was born May 23, 1918 at Oklahoma City to J.J. and Beatrice [Strever] Starkey. She passed away on Tuesday, March 20th at her home in Pocasset. Grace's family moved to Minco in 1930 from Oklahoma City and she graduated from Minco High School in 1935. She went on to complete her Teachers Certification from the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha and Central State University in Edmond and taught for 2 1/2 years at the Hazel Dell School at Minco. On February 9, 1940 Grace married Dale Rowe at Chickasha. They made their home in Pocasset and had recently celebrated their 67th anniversary. Grace was a member of the Southern Oaks Church of Christ in Chickasha. She was also a member of the Arcadia Home Demonstration Club for over 50 years and served as secretary of the Friendship Cemetery Board for 22 years. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, J.J. and Beatrice Starkey and two sisters, Hazel Malcom and Elene Castillo. She is survived by her husband Dale of the home in Pocasset; one son, Gene Rowe, also of the home; three daughters, Becky and husband Larry Joe Fitzgerald of Minco; Dianne Jackson and Connie Huseman, both of Alex; two brothers, Herbert Starkey and James and wife Betty Starkey all of Minco; one sister, Lucille McComas of Chickasha; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. |
