Funeral service for J. R. McComas, age 35, of Amber will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 5, 2010, at the Southern Oaks Church of Christ. Jim Ross will officiate.

J. R. was born the son of Kevin A. McComas and Sue Kennedy McComas on December 11, 1974 in Chickasha. He died on March 1, 2010 in Chickasha.

J. R. graduated from Minco High School in 1993. He graduated from Redlands Community College in 1995 with his associate degree. In 1998, he graduated from OSU with a bachelors degree in Food Science.

He married Christie Kennedy on May 23, 2000.

In 2002, he received his masters from OSU in Food Science. J. R. worked for several food companies including Hormel and Lopez Foods. His current job, being a stay at home dad to his wonderful 3 year old twins, was the most important job to him. He was a loving father, husband, son, brother, uncle and cousin.

J. R. loved watching all the OSU Cowboy sporting events. J. R. will be remembered most for his gentle spirit and easy going personality. He was the most respectful person anyone could meet and never met a stranger. J. R. especially loved his family.

He was a member of the Minco Church of Christ and was dedicated to his strong Christian faith.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Kenneth McComas and Charles Kennedy one nephew, Blake Ryan Kennedy, and cousin, Shawn Brady.

Survivors include: Wife: Christie McComas of the home, Twins: Ainslee Kay and Avery Chase McComas of the home, Parents: Kevin and Sue McComas of Minco, Sister and Husband: Kim and Alan Mock of Minco, Sister and Husband: Karrie and Chuck Knapp of Amber, Grandmother: Lucille McComas of Chickasha, Grandmother: Delores Kennedy of Minco, Father-in-law and Mother-in-law: Wesley and Sharan Kennedy of Amber, Brother-in-law and Wife: Steve and Laura Kennedy of Amber, Sister-in-law and Husband: Kim and Mark Clift of Pocasset, Brother-in-law and Wife: Ted and Yvonne Kennedy of Amber, Sister-in-law: Katie Kennedy and fiance, Jared Voegeli of Amber, Grandmother-in-law: Maxine Allen of Blanchard, Nieces and Nephews: Jennifer, Jakob, Travis, Kolby, Addison, Owen, Reese, Emily and Hayden. Many Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, and Friends.

Interment will be in the Friendship Cemetery, Pocasset. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
