© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma 6 & 7 May 2009 July 12, 1927 ~ May 1, 2009 At age 82, Arthur "Ed" Ash died peacefully in Danville, CA on Friday after a long illness. He was born on July 12, 1927 on a farm near Verden, Oklahoma to Arthur and Minnie Ash. After growing up during the depression and WWII, Ed served in a construction battalion of the U.S. Navy. As part of his duty he served at Camp Parks, California near Danville where he would later return to work and raise his family. Following his Naval service Ed studied at Oklahoma University and married Lenora Ford in 1950. He owned a plumbing business in Anadarko, was employed on projects in Guam and Iceland and served as the City Manager of Lindsay Oklahoma. After leaving Oklahoma he worked as an engineer in the construction industry on projects across the country including work at NASA's Mississippi test facility and electric power transmission facilities in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Arizona and California. The family moved to Danville California in 1969 where he worked on the construction of the Bay Area Rapid Transit System and later became the president of TransDyn Construction. He is survived by his sister Edna [Ash] Coit, children Paul Ash, Donna [Ash] Sabatasso, and Kelly Ash and grandchildren Matthew, Megan, Elena and Ethan. His sister Patricia Ash who died in childhood precedes him. A graveside service will be held at Friendship Cemetery on Saturday May 9 at 2:30pm and visitation available on Friday May 8 at the McRay Funeral Home in Chickasha. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association. Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home. |
© Steverson Funeral Home Tuesday, 26 February 2008 August 2, 1930 ~ February 18, 2008 Lenora was born August 2, 1930, south of Ft Cobb to Raymond and Ollie [Muse] Ford. She died peacefully in Walnut Creek, CA after a long illness. Lenora graduated from Anadarko High School with the Class of 1948. She immediately went to work at First State Bank and later became the first woman bank teller in Anadarko. She and Ed Ash of Verden were married in 1950. Ed's job as an electrician took them to Guam in 1951, and then to Iceland. Lenora came back to Anadarko in 1952 to await the birth of their first child. Ed returned to Anadarko when his contract in Iceland was over. He worked for PSO until he was hired as Anadarko City Manager in 1956, a position he held for two years. They moved to Danville, CA in 1969, and have made their home there since. Lenora worked many years at the Bank of America in Danville. She was an active member of the San Ramon Valley United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Sybel Johnston. Survivors include her husband Ed, and children Paul Ash, Donna Ash Sabatasso and Kelly Ash; grandchildren, Matthew, Mega, Elena and Ethan, all of California. She has many cousins in Oklahoma, including Carl Steverson, Xuma Schlegel, Ben McDonald, Linda Love and Katie Forster, all of Anadarko, Arol Steverson of Granite, Jessie Greer of Gracemont, Betty Gage of Pink, and Francis Milam of Oklahoma City, many other relatives and loving friends. Graveside service to be held at 2 PM Thursday, Feb 28, at Friendship Cemetery, northeast of Verden. Ed and other family members will be at Steverson Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, from 6 PM until 9 PM to greet friends and family.
