Michael Lee Porter
December 6, 1966 ~ November 1, 2009

Our beloved son, brother and uncle passed from this life after a brief battle with cancer and entered his eternal home on November 1, 2009. He died at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on December 6, 1966 in OKC. He was our gift from God. He accepted the Lord as his Savior and was baptized in April 1980.

As a teenager, he enjoyed being in school and church play productions. He loved to act, sing, dance, write and sketch especially portraits.

He attended Carl Albert High School for 2 years before transferring to Del City where he sang with the Del Aires.

Upon graduation from Del City High School in 1985, he worked at McDonald's, saved his money and took a trip to Egypt at the age of 18.

He attended Central State University. After one year, he moved to Dallas, Texas and attended Miss Wade's School of Fashion Merchandising, where he earned an associates degree.

He loved designing clothes, dressing runway models, doing their hair and make-up and drawing illustrations for the newspaper and JC Penney's catalog.

He moved back to Oklahoma and worked at Wendy's while he attended cosmetology school. He was a licensed cosmetologist and worked at Regis Hair Salon in Quail Springs Mall for many years until recently when his health failed.

He loved being a hair stylist and making people feel good about the way they looked.

In 1997, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Social Science because his mother always wanted him to have a colleg education.

He told his mom and dad recently he had a good life. He had enjoyed his many travels and all the famous people he met along the way.

He had a kind, gentle and caring heart. He was special to everyone who knew him.

We will miss his intellect, wisdom, wit, sweet spirit and the love he showed his family every single day.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Andrew & Mamie Bozarth, Charles & Oletia Porter, Alton Ferguson, James Baker, uncle Donald Gore, and cousins Mike Garrett, Kevin Johnson, and Keith Garrett.

He is survived by his parents Lee & Connie Porter, sister Patra Porter Lemons, niece Andrea Porter Weddle, great-niece Makenzie Taylor Weddle and pet Chihuahua Princess all of the home, special aunt Glenda Gore, birth mother Marcia Baker Smith and husband Paxson, half brothers James Smith and wife Johnna, Jonathan Smith and wife Corey, step-sister Celia Sosa and husband Adrian, Grandmother Sybil Baker, birth father Carl Blankenship, Momma Sandy Duff, half sisters Lora Tater Russ and spouse Jimmy, Kim Pullen and husband Rick, Tammy Ellis, half brother Alex Blankenship and wife Connie, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Our gift from God will be greatly missed but will live in our hearts forever. Our precious Bubby, no more pain.
