Jeffries Sr, 92, of Chickasha, were held Aug 26, at the Grand Avenue Assembly of God church. Mr Jeffries was born November 13, 1901 in Collinsville, OK, to Charles & Ella Ida [Bridges] Jeffries, and died August 24 in Chickasha. He and Elsie Virginia Maartin were married April 4, 1925. They were married for 69 years, having lived and farmed in the Amber community 60 of those years. Mr Jeffries attended the Grand Avenue Assembly of God church in Chickasha. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, infant, James Glenn Jeffries and Berney Jeffries, 4 sisters, Lena Carn, Clara Warren, Opal Douglas, & Ida Smith, and 2 brothers, Bill Jeffries & Roy Jeffries. His survivors include his wife, Elsie, 2 sons & their wives, Everett Jeffries Jr & Maxine, and Jerry Jeffries & Angie, all of Amber, 2 daughters & their husbands, Melba Hambleton & Bill of Fresno, CA and Barbara Mosier & Roy of Blanchard, 1 daughter-in-law, Jean Jeffries of Amber, 1 sister, Mary Edwards of Tuttle, 1 brother, Olen Jeffries of Farmington, NM, 11 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Interment was in Fairview cemetery, Tuttle, under direction of Sevier funeral home. |
© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma July 9, 2004 October 3, 1907 ~ February 4, 2005 Funeral service for Elsie Virginia Jeffries, 97, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, February 7, 2005 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home, Chickasha. Elsie Virginia Jeffries was born October 3, 1907 in Tecumsah Oklahoma and died February 4, 2005 after a brief illness at the age of 97 years, four months, and one day. She was the daughter of James and Nevada Martin and was married to Everett R. Jeffries, Sr. on April 4, 1925, Chickasha, Oklahoma. They were married for 69 years. She lived on the farm in the Amber Community for well over 65 years. Elsie was a member of the Grand Assembly of God Church in Chickasha. She loved sports and was a member of several bowling leagues over the past several years, bowling until the age of 90. She was also a member of the Bittercreek Home Demonstration Club for many year. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband Everett and two sons, James Glen, Berney Jeffries, and one great great grandson, Logal Kyler Wigley Armstrong. Survivors include Everett Jeffries, Jr., and his wife Maxine of Amber; Melba and husband Bill Hambleton of Fresno, California, daughter-in-law, Jean Jeffries of Amber; Barbara and her husband Roy Mosier of Blanchard; and Jerry Jeffries of Chickasha. Her family also includes 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. Jeffries, Jr., 83, of Amber, Oklahoma will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 6, 2009 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home, Chickasha. Everett R. Jeffries Jr. was born December 16, 1925 the son of Everett R. Jeffries, Sr. and Elsie Virginia [Martin] Jeffries. He died October 2, 2009 in Chickasha. He and Maxine Bowers were married September 20, 1947 at the Christian Church in Tuttle. They recently celebrated their 62nd anniversary. Everett "Junior" was a life long Grady County farmer, dedicated husband and beloved father. He served in the U.S. Army in 1946. Everett was a member of the Church of Christ, served on the Amber School Board for several years and was a member of the Red Red Rose Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, James Glen, Berney and Jerry Jeffries. Survivors include his wife Maxine Jeffries of the home in Amber; two daughters and their husbands Pam and Dennis Weber of Moore, Okla., Lora and Joe Evans of Guthrie, Okla.; two sisters, Melba Hambleton of Fresno, Calif., Barbara Mosier of Blanchard, Okla.,; three grandchildren, Jennifer DeJonge, Amber Mason, and Kelly Evans; and one great grandchild: Brooklyn Michelle Mason. © The Chickasha Star Express Chickasha, Oklahoma December 23, 2015 September 28, 1928 ~ December 22, 2015 Funeral service for Maxine Jeffries of Amber, OK will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2105 at the Sevier Funeral Home Chapel, Tuttle, OK. Interment will be in the Fairview cemetery, Tuttle, under direction of Sevier funeral home. Maxine Jeffries was born September 28, 1928 in Tuttle, Oklahoma to Ray John and Eula [Copp] Bowers. She passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 87. Maxine grew up in Tuttle where she resided until marrying E.R. ‘Junior’ Jeffries, Jr., whom she met at Tuttle school. Maxine and Junior lived on a farm east of Amber for 63 years until Junior’s death in October 2009. Maxine enjoyed cooking, sewing, flower arranging and gardening. She enjoyed her family and neighbors who loved her stories and comical antics. Maxine was a member of the Tuttle Church of Christ and later the Central Church of Christ in Chickasha until her health kept her from attending. After the passing of her husband, Maxine moved to the Oklahoma City area to be near her daughters. She is preceded in death by her husband, E.R. ‘Junior’ Jeffries; her parents, Ray and Eula Bowers; 2 brothers, Jake Cobble and Hunk Cobble; and 2 sisters, Eva Mae Crowder and Ruby Ikard. Maxine is survived by her 2 daughters: Pam Weber and her husband, Dennis and Lora Evans and her husband, Joe; granddaughters: Jennifer Dejonge, Amber Mason and Kelly Evans; great grandchildren: Brooklyn Mason, Alexandria Mason, Lincoln Mason, Jonah Dejonge and Evey Dejonge; 1 sister, Helen Greenroyd and 1 brother, Jim Bowers. |
