December 13, 1876 ~ January 3, 1968


Mrs Mary E. Ikard, 91, pioneer Tuttle resident, died Wednesday morning, January 3, in the Grady Memorial hospital at Chickasha, following several months serious illness.

Mrs Ikard, born December 13, 1876 in Ohio, moved to the territory with her mother and sister around the turn of the century, settling in Grady county at Tuttle. In early life, she was a school teacher, and was married to Joe Ikard in Sept 1912. He preceded her in death in 1950. She was a member of the First Methodist church.

Survivors are 1 daughter, Mrs Vera Fryrear of Minco, 2 sons, James Ikard of Oklahoma City & Andrew Ikard of Elkins, W. Virginia, 5 nephews, Joe Hartin & Bruce Hambleton & Russell Hambleton of Tuttle, Jack Hartin of Chicago, IL, & Robert M. Young of Heidelburg, Germany, nieces including Mrs Jean Clair Shultz of Colonial Beach, Virginia, 15 grandchildren, & 16 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday in the First Methodist church at Tuttle, with Rev Neil Baumwart & Rev Philip Bennett officiating. A choir provided the music.

Pallbearers were grandsons, John Ikard, Chester White, J.W. Fryrear, Jack Fryrear, Larry Stinchcomb, & Darrel Stinchcomb. Interment was in the Fairview cemetery, Tuttle.
