Bernice Irene [Phillips] Holley
November 3, 1925 ~ October 5, 2015

Bernice Irene Holley age 89 of Tuttle, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, October 5, 2015 at the Tuttle Care Center. She was born November 3, 1925 in McAlester, Oklahoma.

She was the oldest of nine children born to Alva Phillips and Sadie "Shrum" Phillips.

Bernice grew up a farm girl, living and going to school near McAlester. At a young age she learned how to work hard, working in the fields with her dad.

On December 14, 1941 in McAlester, Bernice married Jackson Calvin Holley also known as Jack. Soon after they were married, Jack was drafted into the U.S. Army during WWII. For the next four years while he was stationed at various Army Bases across the U.S., Bernice enjoyed traveling to visit him on the train.

After Jack was discharged they made their home in Del City where together they raised four children. Bernice worked tirelessly as a homemaker, wife and mother. After Jack passed away in 1985 she moved to Tuttle to be close to her daughters and grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Bernice was a faithful Christian woman. For the past 40 years she has attended the Amber Mission Holiness Church in Amber, OK. She enjoyed reading her bible through every year and cooking for Sunday dinners.

Her hobbies were crocheting, embroidery and working with crafts.

She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was also a special sister and aunt.

She was preceded in death by: Parents, Alva and Sadie Phillips; Husband, Jack Holley; Two brothers, Zay and Kimmerson Phillips; One sister, Oreatha Reid; One great granddaughter, Raelyn Shifflett.

She is survived by: Four children, Carolyn Waller and husband Kenneth of Tuttle, Rebecca Jones of Amber, Jackson Holley Jr. and wife Beverly of Oregon, Phillip Holley of OKC; Three sisters, Alva Dean Young of Finley, OK, Mary Boucherie of Kentucky, Patsy Phillips of California; Two brothers, Everett Phillips and wife Illnorme of Mississippi, James Phillips and wife Marsha of NV. 9 grandchildren, 15, great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; Also many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the Amber Mission Holiness Church in Amber, OK.

Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle, OK. Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Newcastle, OK.
