© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma April 5, 1979 September 24, 1908 ~ March 31, 1979 Funeral services for Sherman "Dan" Houston Gourley, 70, of Route 1, Tuttle, will be at 1:30 Monday in the First Baptist church of Tuttle, with Rev Steve Black & Rev Alvin McConnell officiating. Mr Gourley was born September 24, 1908 and passed away early Saturday afternoon in Grady Memorial hospital, Chickasha. He married Lorene Conner November 14, 1930. He was a member of the First Baptist church of Tuttle for the past 23 years. He was a farmer and a blacksmith most of his life. He has resided in the Tuttle community the last 53 years. Survivors include his wife, Lorene, 1 son, J.T. Gourley of Tuttle, 2 daughters, Polly Defibaugh of Tuttle and Pat Boykin of San Angelo, Tx, 1 sister, Faye Bryon of Seminole, 2 half-sisters, Grace Wiseman of Yukon and Lillian Conover of Amarillo, TX, 5 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Interment will be in Fairview cemetery, Tuttle, under direction of Seviers Tuttle funeral home. |

Lorene Mae Gourley was born December 2, 1909 and died December 21, 2006. Lorene Mae Gourley was born December 2, 1909 in Amber, Oklahoma the daughter of John Abraham and Nellie Burnley [Oliver] Conner and died December 21, 2006 in Tuttle, Oklahoma. Lorene lived in the Tuttle area most of her life, moving back to Tuttle from Ozona, Texas in May of 2005. She worked as a cook for several cafes in Tuttle and Tuttle Public Schools. She also served as a cook for Falls Creek and the Tuttle Care Center. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tuttle, Rebecca Lodge and the Tuttle Round-up Club. Lorene and Dan Gourley were married, and he preceded her in death in 1979. She was also preceded in death by: One son: J.T. Gourley; Infant grandchild: Patricia Mae; Parents; three brothers and one sister. Survivors include: Two daughters and their husbands: Polly and Max Defibaugh of Tuttle, Pat and Richard Boykin of Water Valley, Texas; Two brothers and their wives: Jack and Alma Conner of Midland, Texas, Warren and Margie Conner of Katy, Texas; Five grandchildren: Danny Kaler and wife Cathy, Jesse Gourley and wife Debbie, Russell Gourley and wife Janet, Tony Churchill, Jerry Defibaugh and wife Bonnie; Two stepgrandchildren: Sheila Hibdon and Jeff Cunningham; 11 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; Best friends: Bernice Kruzan and Marie Garrett. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. |
