Tommie Eugene Daniel
August 16, 1943 ~ March 30, 2019

Tommie Eugene Daniel, 75, of Newcastle, Oklahoma, entered Heaven’s gates on Saturday, March 30, 2019 while surrounded by his family. He was born April 16, 1943 in Bridge Creek, Oklahoma as the second oldest of 6 children born to Roy Edgar Daniel and Jessie Mae [Allen] Daniel.

Tommie grew up in Bridge Creek and Newcastle. He attended first grade at Bridge Creek Elementary, then Newcastle from second to twelfth, graduating in 1961.

The summer of his junior year, he got a job as a welder’s helper doing pipeline construction. Tommie had already learned to weld as a student of Becky’s father, who taught Agriculture at Newcastle.

Tommie and Becky Holman married in 1967.

In his early years Tommie worked as a commission agent for Central Commission Company at the Oklahoma National Stockyards and later, with wife, Becky, attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education.

He then launched into what would become his lifelong passion of teaching when he was hired as the Vo-Ag Teacher at Hennessey High School. He would later teach Vo-Ag, Horticulture, and Welding throughout the years at several schools to include Lexington High School, Mid-America Vo-Tech, Capitol Hill High School, and Piedmont High School before spending his last 15 years of teaching at Gordon Cooper Tech Center from which he retired in 2007 after 34 years of teaching.

Tommie enjoyed time spent with family in both work and play, whether it was working cattle, building fence, running the tractor, working on projects around the home place, taking family vacations or just visiting. Being teachers allowed both he and Becky to enjoy more summer time spent with family. Over the years they traveled with their children, Matt and Julie, to many places in the States and abroad for summer vacations. Tommie and Becky continued to enjoy traveling until recently, voyaging to many places including Alaska, Israel and New Zealand.

Tommie had a strong faith in the Lord and he shared this faith with the students, strangers, family and friends that crossed his path in life. His life of discipline, teaching, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to help his family and fellow man served as a foundation for the legacy he leaves behind. He was a member of the Newcastle Free Will Baptist Church and valued the friendship and fellowship of those in his church family.

Tommie was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Jessie Daniel; siblings, Lorene Brown, Darlene Wynne and brother-in-law, Jackie Brown.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years Becky Daniel; children, Matt Daniel and wife Kirsten of Spring, Texas, and Julie Noakes and husband Corey of Newcastle; grandchildren, Anna Daniel, Katrin Daniel, and Elizabeth Daniel; siblings, Evy Jo Bolles and husband Stanley of Newcastle, Lee Roy Daniel and wife Tammy of Dibble, Joy Hammons and husband Sam of Edmond, and brother-in-law Donnie Wynne of Newcastle.

Funeral services: Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at the Free Will BaptistChurch in Newcastle. Rev. Frank Giles officiated. Interment is at the Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home, 3132 Tri City Ave, Newcastle, Oklahoma.

Memorials may be made to the Free Will Baptist Church.
