Coward, 64, of Norman, who passed away Saturday night. Rev Harry T. Jones was in charge of the services. Music was furnished by a trio, composed of Mrs Harry Youngblood, Mrs Gene Dishman, & Harold Long. Pallbearers were: Floyd Hendrix, Alfred Peterson, Tom Reynolds, Clarence Copeland, Ben Jackson, & W.T. Turner. Interment was in the Fairlawn cemetery at Tuttle under direction of the Primrose funeral home of Norman. E.R. Coward was born in Watseka, Ill, 1/15/1885 and died 6/5/1949. His survivors include his wife, Mrs Bessie Coward of Fayetteville, Ark, 4 daughters, Catherine Coward of Wash D.C., Mrs Emma Lee Bomgardner of Tuttle, Mrs Elizabeth Ferguson of Oklahoma City, Will May Coward of Fayetteville, Ark, 4 sons, Ashton of Ft Worth, Tx, J.C. of Denver, Co, Charles of Wash D.C., Robert of Fayetteville, Ark, and 7 grandchildren. Also, 2 brothers, Herman of El Reno and 1 sister, Mrs L.W. Hall of Ponca City. |
© The Tuttle Times Tuttle, Oklahoma December 18, 1975 March 16, 1891 ~ November 30, 1975 Mrs Bessie May Coward was born 3/16/1891 near Ashland, Kans. She died at her home of a sudden heart attack, 11/30/1975. She came to Oklahoma in the run of 1889, settling near Enid. She attended Phillips University in Enid. She moved to Tuttle in 1920 and was a homemaker most of her life. Her husband, Edward, preceded her in death in 1949. She was a member of the Christian church of Tuttle. Survivors include 4 daughters, Mrs Emma Lee Bennett of Tuttle, Mrs Mary E. Ferguson of Midwest City, Mrs Willa May Wallace of Little Rock, Ark, & Mrs Catherine McLees of Alexandria, Virginia, 4 sons, Robert N. Coward of Tuttle, Charles E. Coward of Springdale, Ark, John C. Coward of West Plains, Missouri, & Ashton W. Coward of Ft Worth, Tex, 15 grandchildren, & 18 great grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday at the First Christian church in Tuttle with Rev Carl Polsley officiating. Pallbearers were Dwight McCarthey, Tommy Guthery, James Cobble, Ernie Andrews, David Williams, & Hunk Cobble. Music was provided by Kenny & Charles T. Bomgardner & Mrs Gene Brooks accompanied by organist, Mrs Vera Cobble & pianist, Mrs Carl Polsley. Interment was in Fairview cemetery under direction of Sevier funeral home of Tuttle. |
© The Tuttle Times Tuttle, Oklahoma September 10, 2010 December 5, 1934 ~ September 9, 2010 CHICKASHA - Funeral service for Robert Noel Coward, 75, of Tuttle, will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 11, 2010, at the Tuttle Christian Church, with Neil Davis officiating. Robert Noel Coward was born to Edward Reeder Coward and Bessie May [Crouch] Coward on December 5, 1934, at Tuttle, Oklahoma. He died at the Tuttle Care Center on September 9, 2010, after a long illness. Robert attended the grade school in Tuttle and Junior High and High School in Fayetteville, Ark. After graduation, he moved to Oklahoma City, where he worked at O'Mealy's Cafeteria, and he then moved to Tulsa where he worked in a restaurant. His last move was to Tuttle, where he purchased acreage that had room for his horses, rabbits, dogs, and other animals, giving him much enjoyment. He provided a place in his home for his mother to live until her death. He worked at the Mid-Continent Farmer's Cooperative and the Braum's Dairy at Tuttle until his retirement. Robert was a fan of baseball, basketball, and football and loved watching them on television. He was a member of the Tuttle Roundup Club and loved to watch rodeos. He was quite a talker and had many friends. His parents, two brothers, and two sisters preceded him in death. He leaves one brother, Charles Coward of Springdale, Ark.; two sisters, Catherine McLees of Alexandria, Virginia, and Emma, Lee Bennett of Tuttle; many nieces and nephews, and one nephew who has been very helpful to him through the years, Kenny Bomgardner of Tuttle; and special friends, Dean Windsor and Steve and Julie DeArmon of Tuttle. He gave his life to the Lord at an early age. One could see him at the Tuttle Christian Church early on Sunday morning, talking and visiting. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tuttle Roundup Club, P.O. Box 1014, the Tuttle Christian Church, P.O. Box 86, both at Tuttle, OK 73089, or a charity of your choice. |
